In the car

October 19, 2010

Taking a small break from the story of the t-shirt to share a discussion from this morning in the car with Anika.

Ani: Mama, can you make me a rainbow dress that twirls?

Me: Sure Ani! That sounds fun! We can figure that out.

Ani: Can you make it while I’m at school?

Me: No babe, I have lots to do this morning – so probably not today. But we can figure it out.

Ani: During my naptime?

Me: Not today honey, but we will.

Ani: Okay! We will go to the fabric store. And I will choose some good fabric for my dress. And then we will go home, and during my naptime you can sew it! And then, after my nap time, I will try it on and you will put pins in it. And then you will finish sewing it and I will wear it!

(Clearly she has the sewing process worked out).

Me: Okay Ani, that sounds good! Not today but we’ll do it soon, okay? What colours do you want it to be?

Ani: Pink, and purple, and yellow, and blue, and red. That’s all.

Me: Okay, sounds-

Ani: AND BROWN! I like brown. Brown is my favouritist.

Me: …..okay…..brown? Really?

Ani: YES!

So um….I guess we’ll be making a pink and purple and yellow and blue and red and BROWN rainbow dress sometime in the not too distant future. For the record, she remembered it as soon as I picked her up – “MAMA, did you make my dress???”

So funny.

Hihi. The conversations with the kids always make me laugh. They’re so relentless. And focused.

Cute, cute , cute. I love and always remember certain convos with my girls as well. The best was when they were young.

Love the pics, she’s getting so big.

I still maintain that Sunday’s conversation with her was my favourite. “Well Ani, maybe we’ll watch Aladdin when you come to visit next time!” Her response? “Mommy said that there are crazy drivers and that we won’t be back until next Christmas.” 😀

I think you should tell the story about making a beanbag chair! It’s the best…
